We may not store bread in this way anymore, but this project is great for storing all kinds of things in the kitchen.  It's called a saltbox because it is designed after a saltbox which was a way salt was kept in the 18th Century.  Many bread boxes were designed the same way in the 18th and 19th Centuries which is where the idea for this project came from.  You could store napkins, paper towels, baking ingredients, cookies, etc in this versatile kitchen storage project.  Just think of all the unique ways you could use this in your kitchen or around your house.  Modeled after an antique this piece will make a great storage compartment for any home.
